Floor's Enforce story: At a certain point I could no longer ignore the pain

Ever since I was 16, I have suffered from pain in my knees when I exert force, especially when bending my knee. For example, cycling for more than 10 minutes already hurts. Because I often didn't want to make myself known to others or people even say "Hey, you're a young girl, how can that bother you already?!" I just continued. Stubborn is a character trait of mine and my body was happy with that because I remained fit and slim, but my knees started to hurt more and more. At a certain point I could no longer ignore the pain and tried different gyms where I hoped to receive the right guidance. Unfortunately, I was always disappointed and no one could give me the right advice and exercises.

After a more turbulent period in my life and constant pain, I completely lost the motivation to exercise. I then decided to take a trip through Asia and ended up being away for 8 months. A wonderful experience! But I can tell you that it does not contribute to a healthy lifestyle. Once back from my trip at the beginning of 2020, I immediately registered with a friend at a gym, but there I immediately ran into the same problem again. The pain in my knees and no good guidance about what I could do. Of course, corona also came into play and we could no longer go to the gym anyway. Then the corona kilos were added!

In September 2021 I saw a message from Enforce on Facebook. At that moment I was really not feeling well anymore and the message immediately attracted me to respond. After a call, I was at Enforce within a few days for an intake interview with Rick. I honestly told my story and indicated that my knees are always the reason why I stop going to the gym. I really need the right guidance and someone to help me slow down when the pain becomes too much. Rick promised me that at Enforce they really look at the person and create a personal schedule based on that. A schedule where my knees don't bother me. It almost seemed too good to be true. I was matched with one
master trainer who is also training for physiotherapy, and then there was Yusuf!

From the start, Yusuf took me very seriously and also urged me to report immediately when I am having problems. In this way he made a schedule for me that allowed me to finally continue and enjoy sports again. It was a bit difficult at first because it is of course tough, but you soon notice that you are getting stronger again and then it is more fun to go! In the meantime, I exercise 4 to 5 times a week in combination with group lessons.

Wherever I thought I was eating healthy, it was disappointing. Yusuf told me that I was actually eating too little. In terms of volume it was a lot, but in terms of calories it was far too little. A schedule was made for me with X number of calories and the associated macros. I had to get used to this, especially the number of carbohydrates I had to eat! Because carbohydrates make you fat, right?! Well nothing could be further from the truth!! After several conversations and various tips from Yusuf, I now manage to eat enough with the right macros. I now even have to be careful not to eat too many carbohydrates.

In the meantime, I have been enjoying exercising at Enforce for 9 months and all the trainers really take my knees into account. I get other exercises if I don't succeed and there is finally understanding. This really contributes enormously to my success. I have now lost almost 10 kilos of fat!! I also have less problems with my knees because I have become stronger and I feel good about myself again. I would really like to thank all the Enforce trainers, especially Yusuf. Without your knowledge and good guidance I would not have been where I am today!
