You know it, Maslov's pyramid. This pyramid of needs is made up of 5 layers and is not intended to identify problems or influence undesirable behavior, as with many other models. No, Abraham Maslov focuses on intrinsic motivation and fulfilling needs.
The bottom layer is the foundation of the pyramid (layer 1). We say, the wider the first layer, the higher the pyramid. In short, you don't build a villa on the foundation of a garden shed. This layer is about physiological needs, such as breathing, eating, drinking, sleeping, safety, but also exercise and health.
Let us work on that every day. And what we see a lot is that many people recognize the need for a fit, powerful body. But first they turn the pyramid around. They start with self-development, reading books, taking seminars and completing courses (layer 5). In other words, we will start with the roof and then finish the walls and foundation. A bit crazy, don't you think?
This is often with the aim of a permanent job, financial security, a house to purchase in order to gain recognition in that capacity and be accepted by the people around you (layer 2). But what if you were to do these things from a fit, powerful body. A body that is vital, bursting with energy, can concentrate better and is more productive?
In fact, research confirms that fit people are up to 23% more productive, 27% make fewer mistakes and 70% are better at making tough decisions.
And let's be brutally honest. Everyone wants to be fit, everyone wants to be bursting with energy. But we always postpone this to Monday, after the summer or January 1. And even if you don't experience any problems with this now, you are only performing at 60% of what you could.
The gap between what you have now and what you could have is your greatest loss!
