Monday Master Blog: Are you already worried about the holidays?

The holidays are just around the corner and that means; FOOD, drinks and fun!

Now the latter is not a problem, but if we are working on physical goals, eating and drinking a lot is a bigger problem.

Is it actually a problem?

I often get people who ask; How should I do that during the holidays? How can I make progress these days?

I always ask them the question back; Do you want to make progress with these days or do you mainly want to enjoy good food and drinks with your loved ones?

Of course, this doesn't mean you get a free pass to eat everything you come across.
You don't have to make any progress during these days, but you can maintain your weight. I also always say; You shouldn't want to make progress between Sinterklaas and Christmas, but you have to do the work during those 11 months outside of that.

Below I will give you a number of tips to get through Christmas as best as possible:

1) Don't let yourself go uninhibited! You feel fat afterwards, have regrets and gain weight.
(All the hard work in recent months has been for nothing, is this really worth it?)

2) Put agreements on paper in advance. For example: 'I will join the meal but leave out the alcohol or I will drink 2 glasses of wine and not have dessert'. Often when you write down these agreements you bring them into reality and you keep them. If it is in your head, it is not concrete, you exceed your limits more quickly and you often eat too much.

3) It starts with a good mindset! What limiting beliefs are getting in your way? And think about this. You say to yourself; 'I have already failed so I will let myself go all week or you say to yourself; 'I enjoyed it, it's a thing of the past, from NOW I'll just pick up where I left off. You can exceed 1000 kcal, but also 10,000. What do you choose?

4) Compensate with your calories on the day itself. For example, skip breakfast or have a lunch that consists of few calories but a lot of volume. Keep your calorie needs as low as possible during the day. You can of course also start eating 100-150 kcal less per day a week in advance so that you can save this for Christmas.

5) MOVE! Take a walk or do a Christmas workout with your family. Burn those extra calories!

Those 2-3 Christmas days are definitely not going to make you fat. Take the tips from above with you and you can enjoy good food, your loved ones and be proud of yourself afterwards! After those days you can start working on your physical goals again!

I wish you happy days and ENJOY!
