How hard it is sometimes to start a better lifestyle. Every time you want to start, dozens of excuses come up and you notice the urge to postpone it to the next day/week/month/year. Exercising, eating healthy, sleeping on time cost (sometimes literally) pain and effort.
Have you ever been to physical therapy? Although it makes you better, it is not always a pleasant experience. It can be quite painful. They know exactly where to apply pressure and what to load, so that they can strengthen the patient's weak spots and the body can slowly recover.
Your daily life is exactly the same. Only disruptions or challenges make everything better. Doing a hard workout is harder than watching Netflix on the couch. Taking the time and effort to cook a healthy meal will never outweigh the comfort of a three-course meal at your favorite restaurant. What makes it worth it? The results it produces. The pride you feel in overcoming challenges. The joy of a healthy body and mind.
By continually creating and perfecting habits that work for you, you develop the will to persevere and persevere through life’s many challenges. Don’t ask for a perfect environment to start, just start. Make your habit scalable across levels of time, difficulty, and effort. You start with the easiest one. One that you can ALWAYS do. If you run out of time, it gets too easy, or it stops producing results, then move on to a harder or more time-consuming version of that habit. Don’t start too hard, keep enjoying the process, and the hours you put in will always pay off. The choice is ultimately to keep doing it.
Also, be okay with not being great at it right away. No one starts out being great at anything. It takes time, effort, perseverance, and a little bit of pain. Trust the process and never give up.
