Monday Master Blog: Addicted to you!

While the real world around us is increasingly characterized by loneliness, alienation and polarization, on Social Media it seems as if we all show the opposite. Our self-image changes with every post, by adding filters and apps that make us prettier, give us longer legs or make us appear a few kilos lighter.

In gyms, many people spend hours on a cross trainer watching television or on their phone, thus losing the real connection with what they are doing. In addition, we train and condition ourselves to get a dopamine shot with Social Media at any time when we are angry, anxious or lonely and to feel better again.

In psychology they call this intermittent positive reinforcement and that means nothing more than that you get a shot of positivity when you pick up your phone and see that an email, a Facebook message, a like on comment on Instagram has been posted or that you have received an email. have. Just like a slot machine.

Our brains are wired in such a way that we want nothing more than to “belong”. You want others to think of you or that you are wanted in a group. You get this idea with comments, likes and emails.

The computer programs behind social media want to keep you on their site as long as possible, because this allows them to attract advertisers. Thanks to all the algorithms, the program can see when you are sad and ensure that you see an advertisement or a nice video, which gives you a different emotion. When you post, you see someone typing, which keeps you on the site to see what the response is. The longer you are on the site, the more you can see of any advertisement.

We have become addicted to our phone, the blue screen and the dopamine it releases when there is a message on it. The worldview is characterized by what free Social Media sites show us. The distraction keeps you away from your ultimate goal!

Exercising causes you to produce dopamine that you have formed of your own accord (literally). Looking at blue screens less ensures that you sleep better and therefore you will recover better, wake up more rested and that also ensures that you feel better about yourself.

Who goes outside with him, ensures that he becomes his best self by clearing his head with sports and looking at his own behavior with the mirror of an Enforce coach? It's time to stop being distracted from your goals!
