Monday Master Blog: Why you will achieve and maintain your goals now!

In recent years, many different methodologies and theories have emerged regarding behavioral changes. These are all rules that you MUST adhere to in order to achieve the goals you have set for yourself. However, it is true that only 5% (you read that correctly, 5%) who achieves the goal actually RETAIN it.

Achieving a goal is often doable. You make a point, you make the changes and follow through. But once you have achieved this goal, that is when the work begins. Maintaining a new pattern is the most difficult thing there is.

On the way to achieving your goal, you have only made the construction drawing and started creating the foundation. The actual pouring of the foundation and construction, that is where the work begins, that is your conservation piece.

This maintenance piece is indeed 5x as much work as the achievement piece. This means that you have to work sustainably. This means that you no longer have to keep doing everything at once, because then your brain says 'hey friend, we have done this long enough, we have worked out of the comfort zone long enough, it is now time for rest again'. And by rest your brain means doing what you were already doing and then you come back to where you were.

So how do you approach this?

Take 1 key action that helps maintain your results. Not 3 or 5 actions, 1 key action! You can maintain this key promotion for at least 6 months. After you have maintained this and it no longer costs energy, you can choose to do something on the side.

So instead of doing everything at once (which is what you did on the way to achieving your goal), you now only take 1 action, 1 action that contributes most to maintaining the result. Only after 6 months do you start doing something extra.
