Monday Master Blog: Progressive overload

Problems with progression?

In today's blog I will take you through the importance of adding the heavier training stimulus.

In the 10 years that I have been in the world of sports, I have come across a wide range of athletes who did their sporting moments well, but did not achieve the desired results. In many of those cases, this was due to missing that heavier training stimulus.

Extremely important, not only for strength athletes, but actually for almost every type of sport and exercise.

Why? Because our body needs a reason to become stronger, fitter, healthier.

How do I apply it? A simple example is in week 1; 10x 10 kilos to do, week 2 12x 10 kilos & week 3 8x 12 kilos, but of course I could also run it an x number of meters more or faster every week. The great thing about this is that because my body notices that it needs to become fitter or stronger to be able to carry the load, all kinds of wonderful processes take place to achieve this. And if I do the same thing every week I won't create this.

So challenge yourself every training to go that extra mile and believe me you will be grateful for the great results you get in return.

Do you need help with this, or are you stuck at that annoying threshold, request a free coaching conversation via the site or social media.
