At the end of November 2019 I will be attending the Breda Business Days. Mainly to see what the status of the accounting firm I work for looks like. While I'm walking around, I'm approached at the Enforce stand. At that moment I have no idea what Enforce means.
Around the same time, I told myself countless times that I really need to start exercising again. It always doesn't happen; renovating a kitchen, injuries, etc. If I'm honest with myself, I actually don't enjoy it anymore. Too many starts, too many injuries. But yes, I am going skiing at the beginning of March 2020 and my bad knees are really not going to like that at my current weight.
During the conversation I have at the Enforce stand, I am asked several questions. I have an answer to every question. With every answer I actually hear myself making excuses. 'No, I really want to exercise but... yes, I need to lose weight but'... etc. At the end of the conversation I half-bakedly agree to have a conversation with a coach.
A few days later I am talking to Remy in Ulvenhout. Again there are those genuinely interested questions. This time I can't get away with excuses. I didn't realize that the first time either, but I didn't realize it at the time. At the end of this conversation, I won't even give a half-baked commitment anymore. I really have two goals now:
1) Go skiing well trained without injuries.
2) Getting pleasure back from exercising.
At the beginning of March I went skiing; ten kilos lighter than when I started at Enforce on December 16. Losing weight has never been the goal. However, with the coaching and exercise, that came naturally. The winter sports were a blast, the strength in my legs had increased so much.
I had found the joy in sports again much earlier. Through direct guidance, but especially through the prevention of injuries. Sports have become so much fun again that I have already set myself new goals for the winter sports.
I will achieve these goals again together with Enforce. I know that for sure.
