In fact, sports have been important to me all my life. It has always been a nice outlet to be able to focus on myself and work on myself. Unfortunately, due to a number of circumstances, this increasingly got sidetracked. Training became a "must" and if I really went for it, all kinds of injuries occurred. When a second lockdown was a fact at the beginning of 2021 and my mother was fighting for her life in Intensive Care due to Covid, something that was completely new to me actually happened: I had not exercised at all for four months in a row...!
Things had to change! But how? I decided it was time to invest in myself. I wanted to get new inspiration to start training. Right at that moment I ended up on the Enforce website and left my contact details there. A few days later Mitchell called me to invite me for an interview at their club. In the context of 'if it doesn't harm you, it won't harm you' and with interest in what Enforce could have to offer me, I responded to this.
Actually, it felt good right away. I was immediately asked: “Wiero, what are your goals?” After careful consideration, these were in the correct order: 1 improving fitness, 2 training injury-free, 3 becoming stronger. I didn't want to have to pant up the stairs anymore. I didn't want to feel frustrated anymore with aches and pains everywhere because goal 3 was always goal 1. But I also didn't want to be as out of shape as I had been in years.
What I always lacked before was a good plan of action. A movement assessment was conducted and a suitable training schedule was developed. By focusing on properly executing the technique and a balanced schedule, I immediately noticed a difference. And then being able to train outdoors under cover while all sports clubs were still closed due to the lockdown was a bonus.
What appeals to me about Enforce is that they understand that it is not just about wanting to be healthy, but also about wanting to feel healthy. A lot of attention is paid to personal contact and a good atmosphere. You will notice this in the group lessons that are given, the personal chat that there is time for, but also the personal picture that can be mapped out.
I myself started working quite fanatically. I have noticed that it is important to think carefully about what is good for my body and recovery. My sports schedule is based on training 4 times a week, including 3x strength training and 1x HIT training. It feels really good to have structure in this. This actually makes it no longer difficult for me to train properly.
I would like to thank Mitchell but also all the other trainers for this wonderful process! I can now say that after a few months I have achieved all three of my goals. But actually it is much more than that. I have learned to listen more to myself and to my body and that only gives more motivation to continue training at Enforce in Rotterdam!
