Monday Master Blog: It's your goal, so it's also your problem. But is that also true?

As much as you want to be able to do everything on your own, your environment is more important than you think. For example, going on a diet is a lot easier if the people at home (partner/family, housemates) support you.

Example: you want to lose some pounds and your partner does not have that need.

Of course you are responsible for what you eat and drink. But it is a lot more difficult when someone next to you in one episode of Lupine pushes down 2 bags of chips, 3 glasses of cola and half a Toblerone.

A frequently heard argument from the partner is: “I don't want to eat differently. It is your goal, so it is also your problem.” But is that also true?

Yes and no.

If you want to change your lifestyle, it is not fair to expect the other person to change his or her life even drastically.

You can start a conversation and discuss what your goals mean to you and how nice it would be if the other person would like to think along with you.

On the other hand, it's also not fair if you don't care about your partner's goals. The person is trying to lose weight and you basically say, "Don't bother me about it."

The world doesn't work that way, especially not when that person is your love partner.

If you live together, you have a role in life and therefore also influence the behavior of the other person, whether you like it or not. So one person's problem is (perhaps to a small extent) also your problem.

Talk to those around you and see together how you can help each other be even happier. And tag the person below who always supports you in your goals!
