Monday Master Blog: How do you talk to yourself

There is so much hidden in language. We now know that you are the one who determines what happens in your life, but how do you actually talk to yourself?

But why is it that how you talk to yourself is so important? This is because it largely determines the direction of your life. How does that determine that direction? This is because you need words to create thoughts. We need thoughts to make choices in our lives. And the choices we make determine the direction we give to our lives. Everything starts with the words or the language you speak to yourself.

Do you say to yourself “I would like to exercise” or “I am going to exercise tonight”, the first is a consideration based on doubt and the second is a choice. And when you go to work, is it “I have to go back to work” or “I can go back to work”? By saying that you MUST do things you automatically add a negative charge to your thoughts. If you say things to yourself often enough, it becomes your own truth.

This also applies to things you say about yourself. “I have no discipline” or “I cannot speak in front of a group”. Because what if we look at the facts. Is discipline somewhere in your body? No, it is not physically present. Discipline is consistently doing the things you said you were going to do. So you have no discipline? Or you just don't do what you said. Because if you would do the things you say? Then you suddenly have discipline. So it's not about whether you have it, but whether you do it. But if you continuously tell yourself and others that you have no discipline, not much will change. Try turning all the “I have” and “I am” into “I am going”. Stick to it and see how your life changes.
