Monday Master Blog: Resilience

It will not have escaped your notice that the C virus is spreading around the world. But that's not what this blog is about. About how people react to the situation that has arisen. My clientele consists of 80% entrepreneurs in industries that have all been severely affected. I'll mention a few; a hotel, a fashion store, an advertising agency, a company that provides the light show at concerts and events.

And yet, after the initial shock, these people go into action mode and try to minimize the damage. If you are forced to close the business or all events are cancelled, your income will disappear and you will have little choice. What characterizes these people that they immediately bounce back after such a blow? They have courage, perseverance, are creative and take responsibility. They are on a mission and no matter the circumstances, this is their guiding principle for everything they do.

If we look at the fight, flight or freeze mechanism that is deeply anchored in our brain and that comes into effect in acute danger, entrepreneurs tend to choose to fight. They do this with dedication, passion and complete focus. They absorb the blow, straighten their backs and bounce back up. They don't have a 'pity mode'.

This also applies to Team Enforce.
Powerful acting is anchored in our DNA. On Sunday evening it became clear that all gyms had to close their doors immediately. A meeting with MT and Franchise Council was held on Monday morning and an action plan was prepared, presented to the entire team in our weekly meeting at 12:00 noon on Monday afternoon and the first live training went online on Monday evening at 8:00 PM. In total, our instructors provided no fewer than 34 live online workouts last week, which our members gratefully use. We will continue to do this for as long as necessary. Fantastic to belong to such a bold club!

Personally, I am fortunate that 1-on-1 training outside is still allowed, so my options are a little wider. All members of the group lessons were upgraded to private training, of course taking into account the known precautions. An appointment with a runner for a video analysis could continue 'as usual' outdoors. We made the recordings, went home and discussed the videos using an online video connection. How wonderful that we have these modern resources at our disposal.

Circumstances are as they are. You can't control them. So is this one.

This challenging period is an excellent opportunity to work on your personal development.

Do you notice that this makes you restless or are you in a slump? Then these four questions can be helpful;

Question 1: What do you have to accept now? Create space by accepting what is.

Question 2: What should you allow yourself? For example, allow yourself to accept that it is okay to find it difficult to come up with a solution. Allow yourself not to be perfect. Allow yourself to let go of control and it will start to flow again.

Question 3: Where lies your strength? Write down what your strong qualities are.
If you don't know, ask your loved ones. Everyone has a mountain of qualities. You too!

Question 4: What should you focus on now? What do you want to achieve for yourself? Determine your goal and go for it.

Seize the opportunities that present themselves and enjoy the process. This is where your growth lies.
