Nikita's Enforce story: It's time for something to happen

That was my answer to the question why I had registered for the coaching interview. A busy job, many social activities and a healthy dose of self-pity had ensured that sports had fallen to the back of the priority list in recent years. With the arrival of our son, one year ago, things changed. Now was the time to throw all those excuses overboard and start working on myself. Not only to get back into shape, but also to live a healthier lifestyle and become and stay fitter and more energetic (not an unnecessary luxury with a small child at home!).

During the coaching conversation, Rick asked me how many days a week I would come to exercise. The conclusion was two days a week, I thought I should be able to schedule that. If you had told me then that now, 10 months later, I would happily train about five days a week and even miss training on the other days or during holidays, I would never have believed it. Honesty requires me to say that as someone said 'I'm going to do some exercise, I'm really looking forward to it', I always thought: 'I'll never get that enthusiasm, I'd rather do something fun'. I still do those fun things, but I now also have that enthusiasm for sports and that is really thanks to the approach at Enforce and the results I have achieved in the past period.

At the start of my personal training journey with Gio, the message was clear 'there is work to be done'. Exactly what I needed, honest, clear and a proverbial 'kick in the ass'. That guidance turned out to be what I previously missed when exercising and why it never happened. Now there was a clear plan and a goal that we were working towards together. The fact that in addition to training you also learn a lot about nutrition is very valuable to me. The combination of training, healthy and balanced nutrition simply works, that is evident.

Gio soon realized what it took to motivate me: keep challenging me to do a little better. With the now famous words 'I think that could be a bit heavier' I am (rightly) continuously pushed to improve myself. With new exercises, my first reaction is sometimes laughing 'that's not going to work', the confidence is given that you can handle that and before you know it the level can be raised further. Keeping track of nutrition quickly became no longer a chore but rather a challenge to find the best possible balance. Upon request, I also received a training schedule for the holidays, my challenge: enjoy the holidays but still make progress!

The results soon followed: fat percentage down, muscle mass up and closer to my target weight. Proof that this approach suits me! Now I'm also one of those people who regularly says 'I'm going to do some exercise, I'm really looking forward to it'.

When I go to train, it really is a moment for myself, some 'me-time'. In retrospect, I should have invested that time in myself much earlier. After 10 months of training at Enforce, I have lost approximately 17 kilos and am fitter than I have ever been. But much more importantly, healthy and conscious living has become the new routine. It certainly didn't always go well, but I am proud of myself and I am happy again when I look in that mirror.

I am super grateful for all the good guidance and I will continue to train with Enforce with great pleasure for the time being!
