Stephanie's Enforce story: Train hard and you will get there

My story is not a story like you might be used to when it comes to training. From people who have a family and are always busy, eat unhealthy and now like to train at Enforce to gain weight and lose weight. Four years ago I started having problems with my muscles. I exercised regularly, but it wasn't just when I exercised. And it got worse and started to appear in more places. I also started to sleep worse and worse. The GP thought that it was already clear based on the complaints and the rheumatologist agreed. I had fibromyalgia. You read all kinds of horror stories on the internet about how people with this disease fare. How they sit at home without work and only have little bits of energy to do something every day. But I'm not that kind of person. And that has everything to do with Enforce.

About 2.5 years ago, before anyone had even heard of corona, I officially received my diagnosis. There was supposed to be a consultation hour with the rheumatism nurse after a few months, but due to corona that never happened again. So I actually had to figure everything out myself. By a happy coincidence I learned how to deal with fybro. Through a foundation of which I have been a member for years, I won two tickets for the Health Fair in Utrecht in the Jaarbeurs in a Facebook competition. That was really just before corona, so it still went ahead. My friend thought it would be fun and I thought it would at least be useful, so we went there. There I ended up at an Enforce stall. When I told them what was wrong, they called Daniëlle. She has many complaints herself and knows what fibromyalgia is. And it turned out that she wanted to help me with a tailor-made training program. She is also in The Hague, 10 minutes by train for me. It couldn't have been better and so of course I quickly started training.

In the beginning it was difficult. There was a lot of frustration because I could no longer do many things. But Danielle is patient (most of the time) and has all along encouraged me to do more. Build up slowly and above all listen to your body, but also trust your body again. When I started, it was difficult to lift the 4 kg dumbbell and I found it quite difficult to do that for 45 minutes a week. After a while it seemed to get easier and I started to enjoy it again. I now train once a week with Daniëlle and once a week with the app. During the lockdowns I also trained in a group via Google Meet remotely.

It has now been more than 2 years and I have even trained with two girls who called me the OG because I had been training with Enforce for so long. For home use I have an aqua bag and a bosu and a number of weights and elastic bands that I use to train again at the weekend. Since a few weeks I can even train with the 7.5 kg. I am still ill and that is not ideal, but without these training sessions and the excellent guidance it would have been a completely different story. I'm sure more people like me could benefit greatly from this.

Greetings,
Stephanie Enzler
